Kessler 2015 Survey

As we all prepare for the ADA’s 25th anniversary, we will ensure you are equipped with the latest information on this most important topic− the employment status of Americans with disabilities. The Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), in partnership with the Kessler Foundation, has conducted a national survey focusing on employment issues for working age adults with disabilities. The primary purpose of this survey is to understand the mechanisms by which individuals with disabilities strive to work and the challenges they face in doing so.

Wednesday, June 3, 2015  •  12:00 – 1:30 pm

Join us in Person:
B-339 Rayburn House Office Building
 Or on the Web:

This survey was administered to 3,000 people with disabilities who answered questions about their experiences in the workplace−the challenges they faced, as well as their successes. We expect the Kessler Foundation National Employment and Disability Survey to yield new information that will inform researchers, grant makers and policymakers, influencing the development of effective strategies for promoting long-term, meaningful employment opportunities.

Results of the survey will be released by Kessler Foundation on June 3.  We are pleased to extend this invitation to join us in the Rayburn House Office building room B-339, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm to hear panelists discuss the Kessler Foundation National Employment and Disability Survey, conducted by the University of New Hampshire (UNH).  Lunch will be provided. Alternatively, please join us for a live webcast: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/kfsurvey15

This event provides the opportunity for Congressional leaders and representatives of the disability community to learn about the survey firsthand from the experts at Kessler Foundation and UNH. On our panel are:
  • Rodger DeRose,  President and Chief Executive Officer of Kessler Foundation
  • John O’Neill, PhD, Director of Disability and Employment Research
  • Elaine E. Katz, MS, CCC-SLP, Senior VP of Grants and Communications at Kessler Foundation
  • Andrew J. Houtenville, PhD, Associate Professor of Economics at UNH and Director of Research at UNH-Institute on Disability
  • Andrew Smith, PhD, Associate Professor of Practice in Political Science and Director of the UNH Survey Center
